Gizmodo has a nice writeup on the new generation of Qosmio laptops from Toshiba. The Qosmios (pronounced KOZ-me-o) come in three flavors:
- The F55 is the traveler’s companion. It includes built-in GPS with navigation and mapping software provided by Garmin. With a 15.4″ screen, it’s priced at $1,150.
- The X305 is the gamer of the pack, with a 17″ screen and an impressive configuration. With prices ranging from $1,550 to $3,500 there’s a lot of customizing that can be done. At the top of that ladder, you can get the latest in NVIDIA’s GeForce graphics cards (the 9800 GTX GPU3), dual hard drives for up to 400GB of storage, and super spiffy DDR3 RAM4.
- The G55 was the most interesting for me. It boasts a parallel media co-processor; the same type of tech used in the PlayStation 3. It’s a quad-core processor that allows for some great speed. And you’ll need it, too, as the G55 offers a massive 18.4″ screen. Why such a large screen on a laptop? Why the heck not?! Add in the fact that the G55′s built-in camera can detect your movements and allow you to navigate on the screen using gestures, and you’ve got something to get excited about.
The new Qosmios will be available later this summer, so if you’re in the market for some portable power, keep these in mind.content from single.php
