The Apple Keynote Thing (9/9/9)

This week’s tech is brought to you by technewsmadesimple.com. Eventually, I will have a set posting schedule but for now, they will be random as I continue to work on the site. Thanks for bearing with me and enjoy the rant!
We didn’t cover it. In fact, I’m pretty glad we didn’t do a pseudo-live blog of it. Gizmodo has a great list of stories on what you missed here…
But in reality, you didn’t miss much. New iPod Nanos with video cameras capable of regular resolution (not HD) but what Apple fails to tell you is that for $180 you get a 16GB iPod but after you fill it with 14GB of music, you only have less than 2GB for video capture. Oh and no still images… The quality is ok (see Giz’s story about the video here) but I’d stick with a bit more expensive HD Flip cam.
No camera on the Touch… I full-heartedly agree with Jesus’ article… but to make matters worse, I now need to pay an additional $5 to go from OS 3.0 to OS 3.1. That is a total of $15 to go from 2.x to 3.1? Isn’t that a bit excessive?
I’m not going to be too impressed with the next keynote. Apple had better release a brand new product (not an iPod or a modification of one…) or I’ll be losing faith very quickly (not that I was ever an Apple fan boy, but the lack of innovation is really getting to me right now).
/rant (end of rant for those non-programmers)
