Cox cable living up to their name: Testing new "Time Sensitive" Bandwidth Throttling
Hard to believe it’s been over half a year since Comcast announced their Protocol-agnostic throttling method, and nearly half since they set a hard cap at 250GB/Month, eh? There’s at least one TNMS Employee that’s surprised he (and his 2 roommates none the less) hasn’t hit the cap once. Maybe we’ve been slacking… Well bad [...]
AT&T Joins The "Hate Me" Bandwagon
Folks with broadband Internet in Reno, Nevada became inconvenienced this week as AT&T started up a trial period of bandwidth caps on its users. The cap is anywhere from 20GB to 150GB per month. Unlike Comcast’s caps, AT&T is capping ALL users and not just new ones (though preexisting users get the larger, 150GB cap). [...]

Could AT&T's new cable TV service be better than the rest?!

For Comcast, it is $5/month for a standard def. box and a hi-def box with DVR is $22/month. DirectTV has a flat rate of $5/month for each receiver, however, HD channels and [...]

Comcast claims that with a 250GB bandwidth cap, users could: * Send 50 million emails (at 0.05 KB/email) * Download 62,500 songs (at 4 MB/song) * Download 125 standard-definition movies (at 2 GB/movie) * Upload 25,000 hi-resolution digital photos (at 10 MB/photo) Users who go over the 250GB/month quota [...]
Olympic games may mean trouble for comcast subscribers
Gizmodo explains the recent disadvantage of having Comcast or Time Warner as your internet service provider. As Dave had mentioned in a prior post, Comcast has a monthly bandwidth quota of about 250GB but now, Time Warner wants to start using 40GB as their high end bandwidth quota. What does that mean for you the [...]
Wii Like It, But It's Still Comcast
The Consumerist has alerted us to a new promotional offer from Comcast. New subscribers who sign up between July 28th and August 17th will receive a frickin’ Nintendo Wii. I really wish that I liked Comcast, because this is a pretty sweet incentive. Unfortunately, they’ve given me more than enough cause to dislike them. And [...]
