Last’s night’s Boston WordPress Meetup was great, with a lot of people attending. Videos, slides and other notes will be available soon.

In other news, TEDxBoston is this Thursday. Stay tuned for a new Live Blogging system that I am currently putting in place.

Lunches are a la carte [Yes again] but will probably be sandwiches, soup, salad, etc. with some type of veggies and/or fruit!

Dinner: Monday-Friday (for the Mrs.): Roasted Garlic Onion Jam Pizza (I didn’t make this until Sunday night), Grilled veggie kabobs, Falafels; Monday-Friday (for me): on the road so I’m hoping something somewhat healthy (except for the pizza last night at WordPress)

Do we have a 6th sense? Pattie Maes on a portable device that uses 4 fingers (index and thumbs), a webcam, battery pack and small projector hooked up to a cell phone to have a portable device that is interactive and you can resize, call or even draw (think Microsoft Surface only portable… and much cheaper (less than $400)). You can image books and it will link to Amazon to get ratings, or reviews and will project it there. Video, written annotations… word clouds associated to people.

2006:$125 billion; 2015:$300 billion; 2030:$700 billion

Aging is complex but there are many external forces that influence this

First step? Put elder experience at center. Eating, dressing, transitions, personal care, paperwork/finances, medication, relationships, mobility, entertainment and connections.

Most elderly dont know what meds they are taking and there is a disconnect and the elderly feel lost.

The nursing home of the future isnt a nursing home at all…

The Alzheimer’s project: HOB’s documentary films on Alzheimer’s disease

Partner with National Institute of Health (NIH) to work on informing the public on what really happens.

1/3 of people interviewed knows someone with or just diagnosed or has someone who has passed away from Alzheimer’s

54% have been touched by the disease… 1/3 is worried about getting it

“The memory loss tapes” and “Grandpa, do you know wh0 I am?” are both documentaries on the disease (as well as “Caregivers” and ‘Momentum in Science”)
